We have since found out that TLC was allegedly well aware that Josh Duggar was a child molester as far back as 2006 but didn’t seem to care or possibly did care but could only see the dollar signs associated with the the hit reality series.
Back in 2006, Oprah Winfrey was set to interview the Duggar family. The family was already in Chicago for the interview when the producers at Harpo Studios received an email notifying them of Josh Duggar’s behavior and that he had allegedly molested his siblings and family friends. The sender wanted Oprah to know ‘before she made a fool of herself.’ The sender also requested that Oprah confront them about their family secret.
Oprah immediately canceled the interview and reported the email and the accusations of the possible crime to the Springdale Police Department in 2006.
Since the accusations emerged and Josh and his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have released statements admitting to the crimes, TLC has removed the show from the line up and released a statement saying,
“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”
Mama June from the reality series, Honey Boo Boo, was threatening a lawsuit if 19 Kids and Counting wasn’t pulled from the TLC schedule, like her show was when she started dating the man who molested her daughter years before.
According to Blind Gossip, TLC was well aware of the crimes that occurred with Josh Duggar but didn’t do anything about it. Why? They did not want to do anything that would cause controversy or stop the income stream from 19 Kids and Counting, so they did nothing and simply hoped that the problem would remain a secret.
Fortunately for the general public, most secrets are usually found out and the worse the secret, the more the headline news it becomes when it is finally found out.
Does this make you want to stay away from TLC or are you going to continue watching other television series that are currently on TLC? Do you think the Duggars should be taken off the air all together or should Josh Duggar be the only one who is removed from the series?
