The FBI has set up the director, Naz’s vacation home as a temporary safehouse for Brian if things get bad. They all want answers about Rebecca’s father’s connection to NZT. The director’s off too Washington D.C to get more information subtly. She arrives in D.C, and a friend of hers, oblivious to why she’s really there, tells her to ease them into giving whatever information she seeks- to be careful while getting it. She talks to the CIA about putting Brian in danger. Brian takes the pill later and he and Rebecca arrive to work- only to witness the director being escorted out by the CIA. Boyle asks what charges she’s being taken for, and her replacement brushes off the question and merely says the four of them have a lot to talk about.
Rebecca, Brian and the new director, Grady Johnson try to see what’s going on, and the replacement merely says she’s interfering with national security. NZT-Brian rules that he’s working for someone bigger and badder. Grady’s also decided to cut off Brian’s NZT supply for now. Brian and Rebecca leaves, and Rebecca notes that she’s worried about the boss, fearing she’s in a spot without due process. Brian reveals that he pickpocketed Grady’s phone and wants to get info about the director- she’s apparently being held for treason for communicating with terrorists. Rebecca wants to prove the charges wrong. They go back to his apartment to get things- including Brian’s private NZT stash. Grady’s phone goes off and one of their coworkers is feeding information on how the actual director’s case is going. Meanwhile at FBI HQ, Grady’s getting a feel of Boyle’s personality. Boyle’s not having it. Grady goes for the jugular, pointing out taking in Brian was a giant risk.
Rebecca and Brian head to the safehouse and find the place entered. They flip out- until the intruder turns out to be Naz’s daughter., Ava She has news: her mother really was communicating with terrorists.
